Maiandros means to find one’s way. It is about destiny.
My co founder, Joanna passed away in 2019.
She gave us the name based on how we formed the company.
We went on many walks together.
The action of walking every week gave her the idea.
It was reminiscent of a concept she knew from her Greek heritage.
The concept was called Maiandros.
We walked many times together for over two years. We often did not have a destination or purpose.
As we walked and talked, the natural purpose of our lives unfolded and took the form of this business.
This unfolding of purpose is what she referred to as Maiandros.
This way of finding your destiny was known to the people of Greece. She was walking in an ancient path that many had walked before her.
Maiandros refers to a mighty river which breaks its way through mountains to find its way to the sea.
This river inspired the Greeks and informed them how they as people must also forge ahead and discover their direction in life.
When you are lost or lacking in direction just go on a path of discovery and you will find yourself there.
As you wind and meander, like the river, you will make it to your destiny.
