This has been a time of upsets. I lost my co founder in 2019. Then in 2020 Covid shutdown threw another wrench at me.

I see myself as a coach.

I coached my co founder to form my investment company.

I coach realtors now how to find buyers on the internet.

Every morning. I also coach myself.

Here is how I have been making the most of the strange days:

The Long Game

The long game is solid. I know I am going to continue to develop real estate like I started to do with my co founder.

To make it in real estate you need to get high on one of two things.

You have to love helping people find their home. And you have to love building those homes.

You can’t do Real estate for money. If you love doing real estate, you will love the money.

In Real estate, you make all your money in few large payments that come few and far between.

You don’t survive the interim periods unless you love what you do.

I went into real estate because I knew that running a team of builders would instantly be more satisfying to me than running a team of programmers.

I love building things and I love people who love building things. That’s why I went into real estate.

If I ever get stressed about what to do in a given day I have to check and make sure I am taking care of the long game. I have to check in with the things that make me feel :

  1. Pride and Success

The Short Game

One of my favorite coaches, Jason Stapleton, recommends that you become a brainwave ninja.

Each morning it is vital that I create a space around me that protects my mind state.

When I only get paid a few times a year, I need to feel like Im getting paid every morning!

If I use the internet I need to make sure what I am doing is moving the needle on the two aspects of my long game. Pride and Success.

Grounding

Cover has forced me onto the internet more than ever.

I love the internet but one thing it is not is grounded.

The internet can pull you in a million directions. It is important when using the internet to stay grounded.

History

I follow people that I have followed for a long time. I resist the urge to add new people to old lists. I try to do things slowly even if something jumps at me and seems like a good idea. Things that have a history are always going to be more important.

Re Work

Ideas come and go. I find that my best work is stuff that I jot down and then come back to later. If an idea maintains its importance to me over time, It is a winner.

Research

Understanding other viewpoints is essential to qualifying my thoughts. If I have an idea that seems great. It may not be a fit for anybody. It may need to be re worded. But if it doesn’t fit into the flow of information online, I better be ready for a fight!

Humanize

DMs

Diret Messaging is a great skill to have online. Inbound marketing is every introvert’s dream, but its also a great way to grow cobwebs on top of weeds.

DM’s are the way to approach influencers and people of importance and move the dial forward on goals.

Phone Calls

Real Estate is a phone business. Construction is as well.

Internet Marketing is in theory not. but it is.

If I go a few days without making a phone call, I am doing something wrong.

Goal Setting

I start my day with one blank sheet of paper. I pray I may not need another sheet before 10 in the morning!

Goals should be two things. Simple and impactful

Simple

If I can’t fit it on the paper, I can’t do it either. Some ideas just need to be tossed out. Simple ideas go far.

Impact

The difference between thought and emotion is that one is felt the other is not.

Some ideas matter more than others. I need to ask myself every morning what main goals do I want to do that day. Which will move the needle? which will not?

Those ideas that are more important to my bottom line will also mean more to me on some level. I need to be very careful that I choose daily goals that feel important.
